How can I make reading a fun habit?

Having trouble reading? Don’t worry, It happens to all of us, believe it or not. In fact, I, myself have phases in my life where I am addicted to reading and phases where I just don’t feel like it. Sometimes finding motivation to read can be difficult. Not to worry, I have some tips on how to make reading an on-going fun habit.

1. Figure out what you really like reading

This is an essential step in having fun reading. If you don’t like Sci-fi, why in the world would you read a book about it? For some people their preferible book genre is similar to their movie genre. For others , the complete opposite. For example: I hate horror/thriller movies but I go crazy over a good scary book. If you’re still having trouble figuring out “your style” , try reading a little bit about all genres and find out which one interests you the most. Just like taste in clothes, your preferible book genre can change over time. Maybe one year you love reading romance novels and the next mystery novels. Sometimes you figure out what you really like reading over experience. The more books you read of every genre, the more insight you have. So then my advice would be , TRY IT OUT!

2. Make the time

The most important thing about habits is that it is a TENDENCY. In other words, make time in your schedule to read. It can be just 30 minutes when you wake up. I recommend reading at least 30 minutes before sleeping. I know this is hard because most people have a habit of using electronics before snoozing. But I have to say, reading before going to bed has so many benefits. First of all, studies show that reading even 6 minutes before sleeping combats insomnia, it clears your mind, calms you down, is much healthier for your eyes than looking at the blue light in screens, etc..
This step may be the most difficult part but if you complete the first step and find a book you really like, it should be a lot easier to find time to read (especially since you will be excited to continue your book)

3. Find your aesthetic setting

When you begin this habit, your setting can help you really get in the reading mood. Some examples include: on a bench at your local park, on your favorite chair on your porch, in your favorite coffee shop… I usually read in a beanbag in my room with colorful lights shining on the walls.  Feel free to use these few tips to find your “special place”
  • Make sure there is lots of light so that you can read clearly without stressing your eyes. The more natural the light is, the better.
  • Reading is NOT homework/work, so I don’t recommend reading in your work desk or work place. This differentiates your work environment and your relaxed environment.
  • Find somewhere comfortable where you are not distracted by everything. If you are reading in your garden I recommend setting down a blanket so that you are the most comfortable as you can be. If you are indoors, set up a few aromatic candles and cuddle up with your pet.

Once you have found your setting and you use it to read often, then you start reading in different places. Remember that finding your setting is to trick your brain into finding reading a pleasurable experience and , therefore, you will want to do it more. When you really do enjoy reading , then you can change it up.

4. Expand your interests

To increase my interest in the books I am reading, I find out more about it. For example, you can watch the movie version of it, read fan-fiction versions of it on Wattpad or Episode, talk to friends and family who have read the same book and share your opinion on it.

5. Inspire yourself

Motivation can only really come from yourself, so set goals for the amount you want to read and what you want to learn and try to reach them. Also just imagine going into a bookstore with a group of people and being able to say ” Oh I read that book, it showed me an interesting point of view on life” . How smart does that sound?! That’s usually what motivates me, having a more extensive vocabulary.

After all these steps, you might just find reading a fun activity. Just remember that you have to make the effort to keep this habit going.

Anyways, I hope this helped you and make sure to come back for more advice from yours truly – Classic Sofia

  5. It’s my opinion that a property foreclosure can have a important effect on the borrower’s life. Home foreclosures can have a Seven to decade negative effects on a debtor’s credit report. A borrower who’s applied for home financing or almost any loans for example, knows that the actual worse credit rating is definitely, the more tricky it is to acquire a decent personal loan. In addition, it could affect the borrower’s power to find a good place to lease or rent, if that results in being the alternative property solution. Good blog post.

  6. Thanks for the recommendations on credit repair on this amazing site. Things i would tell people is to give up the mentality they will buy at this point and pay out later. As a society most people tend to do that for many issues. This includes vacations, furniture, as well as items we would like. However, it is advisable to separate your wants from all the needs. As long as you’re working to raise your credit score you have to make some sacrifices. For example you possibly can shop online to economize or you can click on second hand shops instead of costly department stores intended for clothing.
